RI BBQ News caught up with New England Patriots legend and NFL Hall of Famer Ty Law at a celebration of his latest project, CORVUS Vodka. In case you are not a big football fan let me tell you a little bit about the man behind the vodka. Ty Law was born in the hard-nosed town of Aliquippa, PA, in 1975. As Law proudly states, Aliquippa is the home of Hall of Famers. Dan Marino, Tony Dorsett, and Darell Revis all came from Laws hometown in western PA.
About The Player
Ty Law became a star at every level of football. After high school, Law joined the University of Michigan, where he became an All-American and was eventually inducted into the Wolverines Ring of Honor. In 1995, the New England Patriots selected Law 21st overall in the NFL draft. The former college star did not slow down in the pros, winning 3 Super Bowls with the Patriots. After a stellar career, Law retired in 2015. He was elected to The Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2019.
About The Entrepreneur
Entrepreneurial endeavors followed for Law. He started a chain of trampoline parks which were successful and then came his newest passion, Corvus Vodka. In his own words “If I can cover Michael Irvin, Marvin Harrison, Jerry Rice well I can do this too.”
Law attacked this new project the way he used to attack receivers, head on. In 2023 Law unleashed Corvus Vodka. The former All-pro travelled to Kentucky to find a distillery and concoct the Corvus recipe.
Talking to Law you quickly come face to face with the man’s passion and energy. He IS Corvus vodka. Law travels extensively to promote his brand. This is his life right now. And there is an underlying drive behind Corvus. Proceeds from every bottle go to the retired Hall of Famers fund which supports former NFL players that may be struggling. Corvus is the Official Vodka of the NFL Hall of Fame.
“I want to help those guys that came before.” Said Law “People think that NFL players are all multi-millionaires when they retire but that’s not the case.”
About The Man
Ty Law walked into Haxton’s on Bald Hill Road in Warwick Ri and immediately the vibe changed. Law was a whirlwind, talking to everyone and hugging old friends and folks he got know with the same sense of genuineness. He took pictures with everyone, signed his name on bottles of vodka, and laughed the whole time. Clearly, this guy was in his element. The fans were not so much in awe of Ty Law as they were happy to see him. Like an old friend they had not seen in a long time, Law reminded them of good times. Times when the Patriots ruled the sports world. In the middle of all the festivities, Law generously took a few minutes to speak with RI BBQ News.
RI BBQ News: “So tell us about the name “Corvus” Where is that come from?”
Ty Law: laughing “Yeah everyone asks me that. First let me say I’m a Patriot for life, ok? Corvus is Latin for “Black raven” and you can see the raven on the front of the bottle. But I am not a Raven fan! The Corvus raven symbolizes intelligence, knowledge, partnership, guidance, insight, and protection.”
RI BBQ News: “Ok so I see we got some different flavors here but I’ve been hearing about the grilled pineapple what’s the story behind that?”
Ty Law: “This is the number one seller right now Grilled Pineapple we are the only grilled pineapple out there. This is the original the only and it comes from my childhood my mom used to grill pineapple for us.”
Corvus vodka comes in three flavors Original, Tropical, and of course Grilled Pineapple.
